About Cuyahoga county skywarn
Cuyahoga County Skywarn, under the authority of the National Weather Service, receives and passes ground truth weather reports from a network of trained severe weather spotters anytime there exists a watch or warning that affects Cuyahoga County or any of the adjacent counties. This is a large undertaking given the size of the area that these six counties span. We attempt to make every reasonable effort to staff 146.76 repeater during every occurrence of impending threatening weather. We, the amateur radio Skywarn Spotters, are the fastest method of storm spotting at the disposal of the National Weather Service. We are able to transmit our observations quite literally, at the speed of light. Other spotters, somewhere around 40% of the total number, provide quick information using public service communications. With the ability to rapidly communicate the ground truth comes a great responsibility, particularly considering that Cuyahoga County Skywarn services one county on a primary basis |
